The Seabrook Island Log, 1947 - 1956.

A photocopy of a guest log kept by Albert and Harriet Simons during summer family vacations on Seabrook Island off the coast of Charleston, S.C. Entries range from simple signatures to detailed accounts of daily activities. Entries written by Harriet Porcher Stoney Simons and her daughter Harriet describe the poor road conditions on the island and difficulty with transportation from Charleston in general, weather conditions, games, various species of fish, crab and shrimp caught and other adventures encountered while staying on Seabrook Island. In 1970, Albert Simons, Jr. "Fish" wrote a brief preface to the guest book, compiled over a "series of summers." Simons describes the guest log book as "something unique for the young which is of enormous value in memory" recalling an "experience or happening which produced great pleasure at the time and lies gently on the mind still."
